My dear CUET Alumni members, My heartiest thanks go to you all for extending your
support, co-operation and love to me in running your beloved CUET for a very long time. My 4 years term as VC
of CUET ended on last Jan 28, 2012. I requested the higher authorities to appoint a VC again and again. Even my office wrote
at the end of December last stating that the term of VC will be expired on 28th Jan. Anyway, after a long wait,
we got the expected govt decision about VC's appointment. We are happy and new VC , a CUET alumnus, Dr Jahangir Alam took
over today, April 25, 2012, in the afternoon. My expectation is to pass quite and calm days in future. I am glad that I got the chance
to remain in this Institution for about 42 years i.e., since 8th Jan, 1970. I shall remember all my bright memories with our
students and colleagues. If
I can be of any help to any one of my students in time of need, I shall be happy. Let us all try to convert this CUET into
a world class university. CUET has already been placed in the proper track of continued advancement, in my opinion. I am confident
CUET will grow further under the new administration. I would be glad if you remember me. I shall try to communicate through this E-mail address
skbcuet@yahoo.com. Many thanks
for your co-operation and love. May GOD grant you all PEACE and HAPPINESS in life. I hope Dr J. Dewan, the Canadian Alumni Asso. and
also the central CUET alumni association will take up their plan, to support CUET, with the new administration. Shyamal Sir A warm welcome:- To the new VC of Chittagong
University of Engineering and Technology(CUET), a first CUET alumnus, Dr Jahangir Alam as he took over on the, April 25th,
2012, in the afternoon. We are hopeful and extending our support and co-operation in running our beloved CUET."There is a time
and a season for everything”.At the same time we all
remember and remain with Dr. Shyamal K.Biswas Sir, who served the Institution for about 42 years since
8th Jan, 1970 and whose 4 years term as First VC of CUET ended on last Jan 28, 2012. Hired at the lecturer level, Dr. Shyamal K.Biswas’s career at the College has involved many titles — assistant
professor, full professor, department chair, academic dean, support services, and, most recently, vice Chancellor of the Chittagong University of Engineering and
Technology(CUET).But in his heart, he has remained first
and foremost a teacher.He always
loved teaching. He would like to think that students in his classroom not only learning, but also more broadly how to think,
how to ask questions, how to understand the world around them, how to think about society, the challenges we face, and how
to approach questions thoughtfully. “I must say I greatly admire the way in which you have interfaced not just
with a part of the University, but with the whole University”.I thank you very much. I am sure that there are many people who feel that
they have received a huge amount of support from you.” I would like to thank you very much for the way in which you have participated in
the University over the years, for the friendship and support offered to us and, on behalf of the University, I would like
to say thank you very much indeed and we all wish you every success in the future. As we have shown time and time again, I wish you well
on your journey. God bless you! Golam Reasat SobhanCUET Alumni, USA.Visit us: www.cuetusa.com. |

My dear former students,
I am grateful to Golam Reasat Sobhan, Mahbub and Rana for calling me this morning from New York. They have expressed
their concern and wanted to know the latest position of CUET.The present status of CUET is as follows.
I am grateful
to you all that you all love and respect me. I actually get pleasure in remembering my beautiful memories of the last about
42 years here in this campus, i.e., since my joining as Lecturer on 8th Jan, 1970. I do hope these memories will give
me pleasure in my future days too. I always believe that I have a big group of admiring ex-students.
I am grateful
to the Hon'ble Chancellor of this university, for appointing me as VC four years back. I think, I tried my best to organize
everything and also to put the university in a track of future advancement. I am grateful that I got cooperation from all
corners. My 4 years' term as VC expired on 28th January last which I told to many of you in private conversations. We informed
the Govt about the expiry of my tenure as VC in due time. We are yet to get any official letter about any replacement and
for that I could not yet handover the Charge of the VC to anybody.
In the absence of any formal authority, various
local problems have been arising and thus the students, teachers are arguing the govt to appoint a VC. And this is coming
up in media. I am still living in Campus. But I think I shall move to Chittagong town in near future. My service as professor
will continue for some more time and I get pleasure to be known as a Professor of the Dept of Mechanical Engineering, CUET.
I hope CUET will march forward with the cooperation of you all.
Best wishes. I am well from all respect.
Hope you all are well. Take care of your health.
Sincerely,
Shyamal Sir. ==============================================================

the then Engineering College Chittagong, a faculty of Chittagong University. And retired from his four years' term as VC of
Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) on 28th January 2012.
Sir informed us that the 42 years of long time
with CUET was a very sweet memories of his life The
memories will give him pleasure in future days too. He always remembered the admiring
ex-students.
